Wendy Darling is the lead character in the Tales of the Wendy book series, which was written by Erin Michelle Sky and Steven Brown. Brave and adventurous, she befriends the winged everlost leader Peter Pan, outwits the decorated Captain James Hook, and becomes the first woman to captain a British ship in the fight against the forces of darkness in Neverland.

Wendy Darling was an orphan living in a London orphanage in the 1700's. She was given the surname of "Darling" as the orphanage caretaker would refer to her as "Wendy, darling" whenever she spoke to her. She was often bullied by another child, Mortimer Black, but would retaliate with her fists whenever she had enough of him. One day when she was ten years old, she met a ship's man named Olaudah Equiano at a fair, who took notice of her spirit and decided to teach her navigation and shipbuilding, as well as marksmanship and swordsmanship.
