The Water Fairy is the twenty first episode of the second season of the TV series and forty eighth episode of the full series overall.
Plot[]
Michael comes back from his school outing to the pool completely furious, swearing he’ll never set foot in there again. Wendy and John advise him to go back and try once more: it’s not by refusing to go in the water that one can get better at swimming. Suddenly Peter bursts excitedly in to lead everyone to Neverland, where the water is mysteriously disappearing.
Abundant fruit provides enough to drink, but the Lost Children haven’t washed in days and are starting to smell bad! Over by the Jolly Roger, it’s low tide. Despite the efforts of Mister Smee and the pirates, Captain Hook cannot take much longer living on a boat that lists to one side. Dagan is also fed up. He’s hungry and can’t seem to catch a single fish from the deck … Neverland is drying up!
Worse still, as they are inspecting the freshwater spring with the Great Chief, Peter and Wendy are attacked by the monster that guards the spring and the ensuing battle causes a rockslide that leaves everyone trapped in a cave inside the belly of the volcano .
Outside, Tiger Lily is getting worried. Without the Water Fairy her father cannot restore water to the spring . John and Michael leave the task of clearing up the rock slide to the Lost Children, and go off to the Mermaid’s lagoon, where the GBN has shown a hidden underwater access to the volcano cave. They hope that the drop in the water level will reveal the passageway. Alas! The mermaids have set up a makeshift dam to keep their lagoon’s water at its normal level, and refuse to empty it. They do, however, propose to immunize Michael against the dangerous charm of the water. John and Michael hesitate, but they're all captured by Hook. Michael finally accepts to be kissed (on the cheek) by the three mermaids… and finds himself instantly transformed… into a fish!
But as Michael searches for the entrance to the underwater tunnel which leads into the volcano, he is captured by Dagan’s net, and hauled onto the Jolly Roger!
Meanwhile inside the cave, Peter, Wendy and the Great Chief discover to their dismay that although they may be rid of the monster, his dangerous shadow is still lurking about …
Will Michael ever escape from Dagan’s aquarium? Will Peter and Wendy be able to avoid the attacks from the monster’s terrible shadow? And will Michael ever be able to overcome his fear of water and bring the Water Fairy to the Great Chief?
