The Starcatchers is a children's books series written by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry. Serving as depicting one of the many possible origins of Peter and how he came to be Peter Pan by exploring his early life whilst at the same time tying into the works of James Matthew Barrie. There are a total of five novels in the series, which serves as an differentiating prequel story-line to J. M. Barrie's novel Peter Pan, creating a differing backstory for the character Peter Pan. While making a link to the famous play by J. M. Barrie, with the novelist himself appearing in this series in a cameo as a fictional counterpart to the real life author. A spin-off series, Never Land Books was also originated featuring supporting characters, who were also created to tie into this franchise.
