Peter Pan grew up to be an adult who had forgotten all about his childhood. In his new life, he was known as Peter Banning, a successful but unimaginative and workaholic lawyer with a wife (Wendy's granddaughter) and two children. However, when Captain Hook, the enemy of his past, kidnapped his children, he returned to Neverland to save them. Along the journey, he reclaimed the memories of his past and became Peter Pan once more.
History[]
Peter was born in London, England in the 1800’s One night on a night stroll with his mother and her friend he overheard her conversation about what Peter would be when he became a man. Peter did not want to grow up because everyone who grows up has to die someday so he ran away. Peter was a lost infant who found himself at Kensington Gardens. That is where Tinker Bell came and found and taught him to fly and took him to Neverland.
He still missed his mother, so he flew home to the window where he once lived but it was shut, he saw that there was another baby in his bed and figured they forgot about him. Peter than went to windows that where not shut and closed on him that is where he met Wendy Darling. Peter and Wendy met around 1909. Peter always came back for Wendy always in the spring. Wendy kept getting older and older until he came back for the last time. Peter had saw that Wendy had gotten much older. Peter was so sad until he saw Wendy's Granddaughter Moira Darling asleep in the bed. That moment he decided to leave Neverland and grow up. The reason was that he wanted to be a father.
Peter went to school and during class he often dreamt about a magical place he soon forgot about overtime. Peter was adopted by Hank and Jane Banning and later in life he eventually married Moira Darling and had 2 children Jack and Maggie Banning. Peter wanted to be successful for his wife and children. Peter had become a Lawyer at a firm in San Francisco and became very distant from Wendy and the Darling family. Peter also grew distant from his wife and children because of his work, missing his son Jack's baseball games and taking phone calls during his daughters plays.
The family travels to London to visit Granny Wendy (Maggie Smith), who raised Peter as a child. When the Banning family gets to the Darling House in London we are introduced to Tootles and Liza. Tootles being Granny Wendy's oldest orphan and Liza being a caretaker for Granny Wendy. Now Peter was to speak at a dinner party dedicated to Granny Wendy. Peter's children were left at the Darling House in the care of Liza and Tootles. During the dinner party Peter's children are mysteriously kidnapped while sleeping in the Nursey, and a cryptic note signed by Captain JAS Hook is left behind on the Nursey Door. Tootles then creeks the door open and says "Have to fly, have to fight, have to crow. Have to save Maggie, have to save Jack... Hook is back"
When they call the authorities, and they did all they can Peter goes to the fabled window in the Darling Nursery and drinks a scotch. Peter than sees a flashing light that gets closer and closer. It is then that the light says it is Tinker Bell (Julia Roberts), who appears and reveals that he is actually Peter Pan, though he has forgotten his past. Despite his initial refusal to believe, Tinker Bell knocks him out and transports Peter to Neverland, where he has landed right in the Pirates domain. Peter is then greeted by the sight of Captain Hook's pirate ship. Hook (Dustin Hoffman) , flamboyant and vengeful, is determined to lure Peter Pan back for a final confrontation. Hook has been feeling unfulfilled and sees this as an opportunity to regain his purpose. Peter, now middle-aged and out of shape, is captured by Hook's pirates. Hook also has Peter's Children Hanging in a cage that is suspended above the ship. Hook makes him a playful deal to just fly up and touch the fingers of his children and he will let them go. When Hook sees Peter, he does not believe that this is "his great and worthy opponent" and decides to just kill him and children but Tinker Bell intervenes, claiming she will train Peter to become Pan again.
Peter is taken to the Lost Boys’ hideout, where he meets Rufio (Dante Basco), the current leader of the Lost Boys, who wields the sword that once belonged to Pan. Rufio and the other Lost Boys initially mock Peter, doubting his identity. The Lost Boys and Rufio chase Peter around the camp until Tinker Bell reasons with them to give him a chance. However, as Peter begins his training, with a mix of rigorous physical exercises and imaginative play, he slowly starts to recall his past. The Lost Boys help him reconnect with his inner child, and through various trials, Peter gradually regains his agility and confidence. A pivotal moment occurs during a whimsical feast where Peter, through the power of imagination, begins to truly believe in himself again, leading to a food fight that bonds him with the Lost Boys. However, a coconut is thrown at Peter by Rufio, but peter is thrown a sword and easily slices the coconut in half.
Meanwhile, Captain Hook devises a plan to turn Peter’s children against him. He focuses on Jack, who feels neglected by his father, and begins to manipulate him by becoming a father figure. Hook stages elaborate baseball games and showers Jack with attention, while Maggie remains steadfast in her belief in Peter. Peter and The Lost Boys who are trying to do another game to help Peter sees the baseball game taking place. When Jack hits a home run and the ball goes flying into the distance, he is hoisted up and all the pirates celebrate including Peter. When Hook rejoices and Peter sees Hook give Jack attention and is in disbelief and runs back to the camp. Peter starts to jump of rocks to fly so he can save his children, he falls Mutiple times until he is hit in the head by the homerun ball that Jack hit during the baseball game. The ball lands in the pond next to Peter, while he looks into the water he sees his younger self in the water. Peter grabs the ball and plays with it until he sees that his shadow is a whole second late when he throws the ball and catches it. Peter is eventually lead to the secret treehouse by his personified shadow. There Tink Bell is waiting for him and tells him what happened to the treehouse. Peter slowly starts to remember small things about his past and most importantly of why he grew up. He recovers his happy thought and flies out of the treehouse into the camp.
With his confidence restored, Peter dons his iconic green costume and confronts Hook in a dramatic showdown. The battle is intense, with the Lost Boys fighting the pirates in a chaotic yet exhilarating sequence. Peter’s reunion with his children is heartfelt, and Jack eventually realizes his father’s love for him, rejecting Hook’s manipulations. The final duel between Peter and Hook is a clash of wits and swordplay, culminating in Hook being swallowed by the crocodile clock that was resurrected from its dormant state.
Victorious, Peter decides to return to London with his children. He appoints Thud Butt his successor and passes the golden pan sword onto him. Tinker Bell bids him a tearful farewell, knowing that he must leave Neverland behind. Back in London, Peter wakes up in Kensington Gardens, initially disoriented but soon reconnects with Moira and Wendy. He has a newfound appreciation for his family and promises to be a more present and loving father. Peter’s transformation is complete as he realizes the importance of balancing his responsibilities with the joy of being with his loved ones. Granny Wendy acknowledges the change in Peter, expressing pride in the man he has become.
