Peter Pan is the main character of Fox's Peter Pan & the Pirates. He is daring and reckless, and always up for new adventures.
Peter is the leader of the Lost Boys and always looks out to help his friends. He is shown to be completely illiterate and forgets nearly everything; such as he never really learns from his mistakes. He seems emotionally stunted as according to the Fox version: “As he has an attention span is of a three year old, his true allegiance is to himself and he is skeptical of attachments. For Peter all time is playtime and only ‘here’ and ‘now’ is important. He cannot resist a game, even if it means putting his life in peril. As such Peter never plans ahead or considers the consequences of his actions.” [1]. Thereby making Peter being portrayed as more of an anti-hero; who is sometimes conducted himself in inappropriate manners to the annoyance of others therefore; being trying or contemptible for all those characters around him.
Appearance[]
Unlike other adaptions of Peter Pan; Peter is not depicted dressed in green; but in autumn to chestnut brown; which distinguishes him from other versions, in which Peter normally wears a form of green; with a golden brown makeshift cape tied round his neck. His hair is shaggy dark brown, not blond or red as usually depicted in portrayals of him, though it sometimes appears to be black in certain episodes and worn in a ponytail with a yellow to golden brown head band round his head. This fact of having his hair this way and being untamed may stem from how many children especially when much younger are against having their hair cut or brushed and styled but prefer it as it currently is.
While Peter's eye color; which is normally described as a type of green to hazel or brown is; instead bright blue. Another factor is in most other adaptions Peter always wears his knife in a scabbard/sheath round his waist; but in this series it's attached to his right ankle boot.
Unlike most of the animated depictions like the Anime character or Disney version and 1988 film, Peter does not normally wear any form of headgear except on certain occasions; such as; when he is dressing up. Instead wearing as mentioned above the distinguished sort of headband that; like the headgear of the Lost Boys or John he hardly ever takes off. This headband maybe a symbolism to some sort of crown given that; he has stated he considers Neverland as his kingdom.
History[]
Not much is known about Peter's life, except that he was raised by fairies, and Neverland was created from his imagination. If Peter dies or stops believing in magic, Neverland will cease to exist. The cancelled third season may have delved more into his past including his family members like his siblings.
Powers and Abilities[]
As in Barrie's novel and other versions, he is naturally skilled in mimicry so can imitate other peoples' voices, with him regularly impersonating Hook's own voice, which is what tends to save himself and his friends from difficult situations.
Personality[]
Peter views everything as a game, and often foolishly puts himself into dangerous situations as a result. Nevertheless, he cares about Neverland and it's inhabitants. He particularly cares about the well-being of his friends, and cut off Hook's hand specifically because he thought Hook killed some of the lost boys.
Peter often has trouble understanding how his actions impact others, and Wendy often has to set him straight. He even openly excepts he is the most conceited boy ever to have lived but regards it all as part of his charm and tends to wear it as a badge of honor.
Peter's memory is bad to the point he once left Neverland to fetch any potential new Lost Boys and returned with Jane not remembering who any of the inhabitants were. Though this is likely due to Neverland's power of collecting and retaining memories of all who dwell in it's boundaries, so due to his link to this realm it obviously effects him far more than others.
Unlike most depictions of Peter, he usually doesn't want to see Hook die, as the pirates leaving Neverland would ruin his fun, though he does try to off Hook in the series finale before changing his mind due to an emotional crisis. In one episode in which gaining wishes from a star led to Hook's death, Peter used his remaining wish to undo all the wishes and revive Captain Hook.
Notes[]
- The fact that; Peter has blue eyes may stem from a nod to James Matthew Barrie; who's eye color in some colored photographs is shown to be blue. Another factor could be his eye color could be a display of his unwavering innocence as to how he sees the world and a reflection of his character
