Plot[]

In 1904 in the nursery of the Darling household, located in central London, England, Wendy Darling tells her younger brothers John Darling and Michael Darling stories of Captain Hook and his pirates. Unbeknownst to the children, Peter Pan listens to Wendy Darling's stories from outside their nursery window. When their Aunt Millicent arrives, she judges Wendy Darling to be reaching womanhood and advises the Darlings to focus on Wendy's future prospects. One night, Wendy Darling sees Peter Pan return to the nursery to watch her sleep, but he is chased off by the family's nurse dog, Nana. At school, Wendy Darling is caught by her teacher drawing a picture of Peter Pan. During an attempt to stop the messenger from delivering a disciplinary letter, Wendy Darling embarrasses her father in front of his superiors when Nana chases her into the bank. Humiliated, Mr. Darling chains Nana outside and declares that Wendy Darling will leave the nursery. He says that Wendy Darling will begin her training with Aunt Millicent on the morrow, and that it is time for her to grow up. Later that night, Mr. and Mrs. Darling leave for a party which Mr. Darling's superiors will be attending. Aunt Millicent is left in charge at the house. Once The Darling parents are gone and the children are asleep, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell visit the nursery again to look for Peter Pan's shadow, which Nana had bitten off during his previous visit. After evading Aunt Millicent, Peter Pan finds his shadow and unsuccessfully tries to reattach it to himself. His crying wakes Wendy Darling, who then sews his shadow back onto him. Peter Pan invites Wendy Darling and her brothers to Neverland so she can tell her stories to his gang of Lost Boys. They use Tinker Bell's fairy dust, and fly to Neverland. Nana breaks free and alerts Mr. and Mrs. Darling, but they arrive too late. Captain Hook and his pirate crew are alerted to Peter Pan's return to Neverland and fire a cannon at Peter Pan, Wendy Darling, Michael Darling, and John Darling. Jealous of Peter Pan’s affection for Wendy Darling, Tinker Bell tricks the Lost Boys into thinking Wendy Darling is giant white bird. She says that Pan has ordered them to shoot Wendy out of the sky with their bows, which they do. When Peter Pan arrives, they find her alive, as the arrow hit an acorn he had given her which she had made into a necklace. Peter Pan furiously banishes Tinker Bell and ends their friendship. Wendy Darling awakens and agrees to the Lost Boys' request to be their “mother”, while Peter Pan takes the role of their father. Meanwhile, John Darling and Michael Darling encounter a crocodile in a cave and Tiger Lily, a Native American princess, and all three are captured by Hook and his crew, who take them to the Black Castle. Using mermaids to track their location, Peter Pan and Wendy Darling rescue them and a duel ensues between Peter Pan and the children vs. Captain Hook and his crewmen. Captain Hook manages to gain the upper hand, but before he can kill Peter Pan, he hears a ticking noise and is chased by the crocodile who has followed him for years as Peter Pan and the children escape. After a celebration at the Native American camp, Peter Pan shows Wendy Darling the fairies' home and the two share a romantic dance. Hook spies on the two of them and convinces Tinker Bell that Peter Pan will eventually choose to leave Neverland for Wendy Darling. When Wendy Darling asks Peter Pan to express his feelings, he angrily demands that he wishes to have none, as he wants to remain a carefree boy, and threatens to banish Wendy Darling like he did Tinkerbell. Enraged, Wendy Darling says she will not be banished. Peter Pan says she should go back home and grow up and flies off, leaving her devastated. Peter Pan then returns to the Darling nursery and tries unsuccessfully to shut the open window, determined to keep Wendy Darling in Neverland. Tinker Bell leads Hook's men to Wendy Darling's makeshift "house" and they carry a sleeping Wendy Darling back to Captain Hook's ship the Jolly Roger, where Captain Hook tries to entice Wendy Darling to become a pirate and sends her back to the Lost Boys, unaware she is being followed. Wendy ultimately decides against becoming a pirate but urges her brothers to return home with her, as they are starting to forget their parents. The Lost Boys eventually decide to join them, to Peter Pan’s dismay. Peter Pan however arranges for a fairy guide to lead them back. As all the boys pack up for the journey, Wendy asks Peter to come along too, but Peter Pan tells her that he always wants to be a boy and have fun, to which Wendy tells him that it is his biggest pretense. As Wendy Darling says goodbye to Peter Pan, she leaves him a cup of medicine to drink. When Wendy Darling leaves the hideout, she is ambushed by Captain Hook's crew, who capture her along with the rest of the boys. Captain Hook kills the fairy guide by speaking disbelief in fairies and poisons Peter Pan's medicine, but Tinker Bell intervenes and drinks the poison, sacrificing herself to save Peter Pan’s life in the process. Devastated and begging for forgiveness, Peter Pan repeatedly proclaims his belief in fairies, which he telepathically reaches out to everyone at Neverland and all the residents of London to do the same except Hook. This revives Tinker Bell as a result. Peter Pan and Tinker Bell save Wendy Darling and free the Lost Boys and they all fight Captain Hook's crew. Captain Hook forcefully uses Tinker Bell's fairy dust to grant him the ability to fly. During their duel, Captain Hook taunts Peter Pan about Wendy Darling wanting to abandon him, and how she will eventually grow up and marry another man. Weakened, Peter Pan falls back down to the ship and is incapacitated. Captain Hook allows Wendy Darling to say goodbye to Peter Pan before he kills him, and she finally proclaims her eternal love for him and kisses him, which brings back his happiness. Full of life again, Peter Pan finally defeats Captain Hook, who is swallowed up by the crocodile as the children chant that he is "Old, alone, done for." Peter Pan has the fairies come and lift the Jolly Roger to flies Wendy Darling and the boys back to London where they are reunited with Mr. and Mrs. Darling, who decide to adopt the rest of the Lost Boys. Slightly, who unsuccessfully tried to return to his original home, and arrived at the house late, is adopted by Aunt Millicent. Mr. Darling shows the kids how sorry he is for his previous action. As a fond farewell to each other, Peter Pan promises Wendy Darling that he will never forget her and that one day he will return to listen to stories about himself. Wendy Darling watches happily as he heads back to Neverland with Tinker Bell. Wendy Darling, now an adult, narrates that she never did see Peter Pan again, but she continues to tell his story to her own children, and in turn to their grandchildren and so on.

Deleted Scene[]

A deleted, alternate scene was produced with unfinished visual effects and no music. An adult Wendy Darling tells her daughter, Jane Darling, stories of her adventures with Peter Pan and her brothers. Peter Pan returns to the nursery to see Wendy Darling again, who warmly greets him and tells him that her brothers are gone now and that she cannot come with him and has forgotten how to fly. Wendy Darling turns on the light to reveal herself and explains that she is married now and that the girl in the bed is her daughter. Peter Pan is heartbroken from this as a result and refuses to believe it. He begins to cry at the sight of Jane Darling, who wakes up just from hearing his cries. She introduces herself and tells him that she has been waiting for him. Peter Pan smiles and, with Wendy Darling’s consent, allows Tinker Bell to come inside, meet Jane Darling, and grant her the ability to fly. Jane Darling assures Wendy Darling that she will be back soon. As they fly off to Neverland together, Wendy Darling watches them from the window, remembers her love for Peter Pan and her adventure with him, and smiles lovingly.
